Apostilling a Death Certificate is easy as 1-2-3!

Please visit Our Services page to begin the process of making your documents legal in a foreign country.

An apostilled death certificate is often required for settling estates or inheritances in foreign countries, selling deceased individuals’ property abroad, or for retirement benefits.

APB Notary handles apostilles for death certificates issued in all 50 U.S. States and the District of Columbia. You’ll need to mail us the original or a certified copy from the County Clerk, Health Department, or State. The apostille must be obtained from the same state that issued the certificate.

Please consult with us about your state’s specific apostille requirements before sending your documents. Note that some states have time limits on the validity of death certificates for apostille eligibility.

Depending on the destination country, a translation of the death certificate may also be required. Contact us for assistance with finding a certified translator.

An apostille is provided if the requesting country is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. For countries not part of the convention, a special legalization process is required through the U.S. Department of State and the respective embassy/consulate.
